Among the first utilities you will have turned on will be your internet service. You will need to call your local Internet Service Provider (ISP) and schedule an appointment to activate your service. This will include the installation of a wireless router. All or your wiring terminates in the heart of your system; this Structured Wiring Panel (SWP).
Do not let your ISP drill into the side of your home and place your router in an office, bedroom, or other living area. The router needs to be placed here in this SWP. To enable access there has been a chase tube installed from the outside of your home to this SWP. This interconnect tube comes with a pull string for easy installation of wiring. Most routers only have 4 “out ports” to connect your hardwired internet devices. If you have more than 4 devices that need to be hardwired to the internet, your ISP should install a network switch with additional “out” ports to connect and enable the additional appropriate amount of internet locations.

Camera pre-wires will need to have a specific network switch with POE (power over ethernet) ports. This type of switch may not be available through your ISP. Feel free to call Synergy to connect your cameras either to a Network Video Recorder (NVR) or activation through a smart service like Alarm.com.
